​Half-Panel Color Ribbons

Half-panel color ribbons are used to reduce printing costs of ID cards on ID card printers, by utilizing less color ribbon for ribbon-efficient card designs. These ribbons are designed to print at approximately half the length of a standard card.

Half-panel color ribbons are similar to standard full color ribbons​, but the individual color panels (Y-yellow, M-magenta, and C-cyan) are half the size of regular full-panel ribbons, hence the name. Additionally, half-panel ribbons have about twice the yield per roll.

Many pre-printed card applications only require you to print portrait images, which would only require color ribbon for half the length of a card. Half-panel color ribbons are available with full-panel black resin panels that allow you to still print black text, numbers and bar code at any location on the card.
