Dual-Sided Card Printers

Dual-sided card printers — also known as double-sided or duplex printers — are ID card printers designed to create two-sided plastic ID cards and badges.

Dual-sided card printers have a built-in flipper mechanism that rotates the card automatically to print on both sides of a card. Two of the most common types of duplex printers are direct to card and reverse transfer.

Some simplex (single-sided) printers are field-upgradable to convert to duplex, usually by installing a flipper module. Keep in mind that a buying a duplex printer to begin with will end up being the most economical option, compared to buying a simplex printer and upgrading later.
